Name: Lezard Valeth
Class: Sorceror/Necromancer
From: Flenceburg
Age: 24 (In Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth)
"He is an accomplished Alchemist as a practicioner of the dark art of Necromancy. Behind his placid facade lies a mad genius who feels that all others are merely pawns to be played on his own handcrafted chessboard."
Lezard is brilliant. At the Flenceburg Academy, he was at the top of his class until he was unfortunately expelled. He dabbled in dark magics and eventually became a master necromancer, engineering wars to collect bodies for his experiments. At some point he gained control of the fabled Philosopher's Stone, the "ten-billion-page codex" that allowed him to see the secrets of stars and gods. His ambitions are endless, his powers bordering on the infinite. His madness, certainly, knows few bounds. He is also in love. And he'll kill, maim, or otherwise destroy anything that gets between him and his Lenneth.
In the first Valkyrie Profile, Lezard appears both as heretic and erstwhile ally. He holds the secrets of the aesir and their workings, and he's willing to employ considerable, uh, skills in the service of the Valkyrie. He both saves her life and allows her to be reborn as something much greater.
He's also directly responsible for the sometimes grusome deaths of some of your party members, but we're not here to judge.
In Valkyrie Profile 2, he appears centuries earlier as an apprentice to the Three Mages in Dipan. After a crisis of conscience, he joins the party to put an end to the mage's evil workings and, eventually, the tyranny of Odin. As a party member, he is elegant and somewhat aloof, but he tends to point you in the right direction. It is not until the eleventh hour, when Lezard takes on the All-Father single-handedly, that his true motivations are revealed. After surviving Ragnarok, he has travelled back in time in order to become the godking and rule over creation with his beloved Lenneth. However, she has never exactly been willing. With some time-travelling, a little luck, and a whole lot of strange voodoo, Lezard is defeated, fading out of existance to be reincarnated in some futre Tri-Ace title.
He also looks a lot like Harry Potter. And he fights with a book. How is that not awesome?
